Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) is a data product developed by the ABS that ranks areas in Australia according to relative socio-economic advantage and disadvantage.

Integeo using its unique set of products and services is providing SEIFA thematic map overlays as a Web Map Service with GetFeature information on pop-ups.  This enables organisations subscribing to the service to use it either in Integeo's Map Intelligence viewer and link it with their own internal data through Excel or the variety of Business Intelligence tools supported or indeed to link into their existing GIS tools.

SEIFA data is commonly used in the following ways:

  • determining areas that require funding and services
  • identifying new business opportunities
  • research into the relationship between socio-economic disadvantage and various health and educational outcomes.

By using the Integeo map service in conjunction with Map intelligence the user can now readily overlay their own data over the SEIFA thematics providing better insights on how you currently service or operate in areas identified as advantaged or disadvantaged.
